Thank you very much for signing up for our event! We now have a full house and will not be accepting reservations anymore.

For the first time in history, the Tokyo Type Directors Club Exhibition travels to the United States

Gallery Reception and Presentation Lecture,

10月 13-31 at Concordia University – Saint Paul

This October, Twin Cities residents will have a rare opportunity to view outstanding original pieces from the 2014 Tokyo Type Directors Club’s (Tokyo TDC) Exhibition, which recognizes today’s best Japanese and international graphic and typographic design work.

This unique exhibition will be on view at Concordia Art Center – Saint Paul from October 13-31, with a presentation lecture and gallery reception on the evening of October 15.

The presentation lecture will feature a discussion between Ryan Hageman and Jon Forss. Ryan Hageman is a graphic designer and founder of Gurafiku, a website dedicated to the history of Japanese graphic design. Jon Forss, a juror of the Tokyo TDC Exhibition 2014, is one half of the internationally acclaimed design studio Non-Format.

To determine the 2014 Tokyo TDC competition winners, the multinational and Japanese judges conducted a rigorous screening and selection process of nearly 3,000 entries. More than 150 of the award-winning works will be on display at the exhibition in Saint Paul. These will include posters, editorial & book designs, packaging, experimental work, and more.

“Judging Tokyo TDC was an extraordinary experience,” says Forss. “The standard of the work on show is nothing short of miraculous and, given that this is the very first time the Tokyo TDC Exhibition has travelled to the US, this is a unique opportunity to see the most outstanding work up close, right here in the Twin Cities.”

The presentation lecture will take place at 6:30pm on Wednesday, 10月 15 at Concordia’s Buetow Music Center Auditorium; tickets are available for $5-20. The presentation lecture will be followed by the Tokyo TDC gallery reception in the Concordia Art Center from 7:30-9:30 pm; the reception is free and open to the public.
